The improved version of the Rietvlei Rig, called the Rietvlei Sliding Rig, is currently preferred by most competitive anglers. It offers the same characteristics of the normal Rietvlei Rig, but with the added bonus of a sliding hook. It is believed that the sliding hook offers less resistance when the fish picks up the bait.
