So what do you think about the New South African Specimen carp record? See the bank angler cover at the bottom of the OP homepage.

dont think its 65lb.... But if you have nine weeks to fish with 16 rods you should atleast catch something like that...

Its a very big fish, so good catch Martin. But doesnt look like the venue that I've heard it came from though...would like to inspect the photo up close..."wink-wink".

Yep, you get guys who have tons of money and lots of time to fish for weeks on end, and then you have us normall guys who have very limited time and money. Weekend warriors.
And, in carp fishing, time at the bank makes a huge difference. So us weekend warriors will have to work alot harder to get anything big, because we have little time to get it right. I envy those who have all the time in the world....hehehe.

Thats life hey, lol!

Nice fish under any circumstances.

Its just funny that wherever I read anything by Martin Louw, he never mentions fishing 4 pods.

Great for him its an awesome fish but I wont see it in the same light as what I would If a "Normal" guy caught it.

Johann,

It is literally as RenRew said. he makes up his mind what he wants to catch and then he sits there until he does.

Nine weeks with 16 odd rods. Imagine the combinations and the experiments one can do in that time.

Ok lets see what happens if we leave a kaboom lie for 10 days. LOL

But then i guess thats why he has the record now hey.

I suspect everything that might get said here is going to sound like sour grapes or jealousy.

So......

Congratulations on a great Fish Martin.

You put in the time and the effort and now you have reaped the rewards.

Kudo's to you buddy.

Welldone!!!!!!!

Dont get me wrong its a great fish and he puts in the effort, I just think fishing 16 rods defies the point?

Dalk dan sal ek vir jou respek he.......

Hi Nodger,

Hi Koos

I read the inset by him now, and I think instead of the usual critisizing here, ppl need to give this guy a break. He will be submitting articles about specimen carp fishing in the next few issues, so he is doing his bit for the sport. So what if he fishes with x amount of rods. I cant imagine it being easy fishing for 9 weeks, with many rods.... and it gives us an idea of how difficult it is at those dams to get a 60!

I'm looking forward to his articles. And it'll be nice to see some of his catches.

Ek haal my hoed af vir Martin. Geluk man!
